The final day of the 2016 DreamHack Zowie Open had several unexpected teams duke it out for the largest share of the $100,000 prize pool.

Here's all the results from the final day of matches:

Semifinals

Renegades defeats Kinguin 2-1

  • Kinguin won Dust 2 16-9
  • Renegades won Mirage 16-7
  • Renegades won Cobblestone 16-14

Gambit defeats GODSENT 2-1

  • Gambit won Cobblestone 16-5
  • GODSENT won Train 16-8
  • Gambit won Overpass 16-13

Finals

Gambit defeats Renegades 2-0

  • Gambit won Nuke 16-12
  • Gambit won Cobblestone 16-10

Gambit earned their way into this winter's DreamHack Open, and it won out of the tournament with a resounding 2-0 takedown of Renegades.

Led by Abay "HObbit" Khasenov, who posted a 52-31 clip over two matches, this side mostly comprised of players from Khazakhstan took down a Renegades side who, while threatening the Gambit lead in the second half of both matches, just couldn't catch up.

This tournament will definitely see both sides rise in the rankings, especially after taking out GODSENT, Kinguin, and Cloud9 en route to the finals.
