Just before you wrap up Act One in Clair Obscur, you’ll be heading to the secluded Gestral Village to gain access to crossing the sea for your next objective. Once you reach it, you have free exploration of the area, containing only friendly NPCs. The Chief House will be dead center, but don’t head straight to her just yet. You’ll want to explore the village and collect all the goodies this safe space has in store for you.

Focus on the Gestral Gambler for now. Simply take a left from the Chief House. Head towards the arena until you get to the right path. You’ll end up in a wide open space where one gestral is standing by a trail to greet you. Head towards the big casino doors, you’ll be able to see from a distance.

In Clair Obscur, you will encounter many NPCs from whom you can get rewards, depending on whether you provide the right response to their dialogue. In the majority of cases, you won’t have to walk away from these encounters with empty pockets. Even with a wrong answer, you can retry the encounter by interacting with the NPCs as many times as it takes.

The same can be said with the Gestral Gambler here. They’ll ask the following question:

• Let’s say that every time I hit, I have a 50 percent chance of hitting 100 percent more damage. What are my chances of dealing more damage in the long run?

Your choices are:

• Same chance.
• Lower chance.
• Higher chance.
• I don’t care.

You can pick any answer without consequence, but the right answer that grants you a picto is by selecting “I don’t care.”

Selecting the right answer grants you a Roulette picto. This is the only way to obtain a Roulette picto in the early game. The only other way to get a Roulette picto is to find the level 28 variant hidden in the Flying Manor, on top of a bookshelf behind a Petank. This is not accessible at this point in the story.

Gestral Gambler’s Roulette picto’s initial stats sit at a level five, with 34 in defense and nine percent critical rate. Its battle effect is “every hit has a 50 percent chance to deal either 50 percent or 200 percent of its damage.” It’ll cost you five Lumina points to equip it.

The Roulette picto is random. It’s a situational picto, best used when completing objectives such as dealing 9,999 damage, a task set by another Gestral in the Gestral village. You can also modify the odds depending on your characters’ stats and gameplay style. Equipping the picto to your character with the highest luck percentage, while implementing buffs such as Powerful—damage dealt gets amplified by 25 percent—can tip the scales in your favor for pulling off the move.

Consider the risk and reward on all encounters once you obtain this picto. It could be your saving grace or your downfall, but that’s half the fun of battle.
