UYU has made a change to its starting roster ahead of next week’s return of the CWL Pro League.
Nicholas “Proto” Maldonado has been moved to the substitute role, while UYU has promoted Alex “Zaptius” Bonilla to the starting lineup, the organization announced today.
Zaptius will now compete alongside Anthony “Methodz” Zinni, Mehran “Mayhem” Anjomshoa, Saul “Parzelion” Masse-Siguenza, and Matthew “Royalty” Faithfull.
Zaptius is a young, up-and-coming talent in Call of Duty esports. He played on Mazer Gaming, Project 18, and Cyclone earlier this year before becoming UYU’s substitute player on April 20. His highest placing at a major CWL LAN event so far in his career was a top 16 finish at CoD Champs 2018 last August.
Despite adding Royalty to the lineup on April 19, UYU most recently placed top 12 at CWL London earlier this month. Now that Proto has been moved to the bench, Mayhem is the only remaining player on UYU’s starting lineup that qualified for the CWL Pro League in January (Tristan “Spoof” Green, Cesar “Skyz” Bueno, and Aidan “GorgoKnight” Provenzano are no longer with UYU).
Zaptius will make his CWL Pro League debut on Monday, May 13 when UYU take on FaZe Clan at 5pm CT.
