The third week of Season 3 of the MLG Pro League is finished, and it was filled with problems and upsets.
Cut to three days and one game because of players being hit off, or having “internet issues,” this week was a mess.
Here is a day-by-day recap of each match for the week:
Day 1 (7/14):
- iSolation Empire 3-1 Rise Nation
- Team Kaliber 1-3 FaZe Clan
- Team eLevate 3-0 OpTic Nation
- Team EnVy 2-3 Team Orbit
The week opened up with iSo vs Rise, shortly after both teams made roster changes (iSo dropped LlamaGod and used Parasite as a sub, Rise traded TJHaly to eLevate for Apathy). The new roster for iSo managed to beat out Rise, 3-1. Fresh off of winning UMG Dallas, FaZe took down a struggling Team Kaliber squad 3-1. Both eLevate and OpTic Nation had problems at UMG Dallas, but after eLevate’s roster change, they swept Nation aside 3-0. After not even making it out of the open bracket at UMG Dallas, Orbit managed to take down EnVy 3-2.
Day 2 (7/15):
- Rise Nation 2-3 Team Kaliber
- OpTic Gaming 3-1 Team Orbit
- FaZe Clan 3-1 Team EnVy
- TCM Gaming 3-2 Denial eSports
Team Kaliber bounced back from their loss against FaZe, and defeated Rise 3-2 after many “connection issues.” I’ll just leave it at that. OpTic Gaming continued their total dominance of the league by taking down Orbit 3-1. FaZe stayed on their hot streak, beating EnVy 3-1. TCM showed that their placing at UMG Dallas was no fluke, and ended Denial’s winning streak by defeating them 3-2.
Day 3 (7/16):
- Denial eSports 3-0 FaZe Clan
- OpTic Gaming 1-0 Rise Nation
- Epsilon eSports.NA 0-0 iSolation Empire
- TCM Gaming 0-0 OpTic Nation
With players getting hit off left and right, this day was a complete trainwreck. Denial managed to 3-0 FaZe and OpTic was up 1-0 over Rise, but the guys over at Major League Gaming decided to pull the plug. All remaining matches were postponed to a later date.
Day 4 (7/17):
- Team Kaliber 3-2 TCM Gaming
- Denial eSports 3-2 Epsilon eSports.NA
- OpTic Nation 3-1 Team Orbit
- Team EnVy 3-0 iSolation Empire
TCM couldn’t put it all together, as Team Kaliber managed to pull off what most people considered an upset and beat TCM 3-2. Epsilon continued their online struggles, and lost to Denial 2-3. They have yet to win a match in the MLG Pro League. OpTic Nation took down Orbit 3-1 as they continued to perform better than expected in the Pro League. After two straight losses, EnVy got back on track by sweeping iSo 3-0.
Storyline of the week
Players are getting hit offline
Ever since the betting/fantasy league website Vulcun has come to prominence, spectators are getting vicious. With money on the line, they are getting hold of players’ IP adresses and hitting them offline in order to make sure they win their leagues and bets. Something needs to change.
