Black Ops 7 is now in beta, but many players have been struggling to enjoy the game due to notorious crashing issues. If you’ve been facing the same, don’t worry—as annoying as it feels to get kicked out of the lobby multiple times, crashing errors in Black Ops 7 can be fixed for good.
The latest Call of Duty title was released into open beta on Oct. 3 (early access till Oct. 5), and will run till Oct. 8. Unfortunately, participating players have encountered severe crashing errors and optimization issues, mainly on PC. Many have reported being sent to the lobby randomly in between matches, while some haven’t been able to launch Black Ops 7 beta at all.
While these are likely being caused by internal hiccups that Activision needs to look into, some workarounds can help you fix Black Ops 7’s crashing errors right now—here’s what to do.
Black Ops 7 beta crashing issues: Fixes
Online programs, including video games, are prone to crashing errors that can occur due to performance hiccups, internet woes, third-party program interferences, and many more reasons. Crashing once or twice usually isn’t that big of a deal. But if a video game is crashing repeatedly—like in the case of Black Ops 7, which is kicking players out of matches—that’s not normal and warrants attention.

While Black Ops 7 beta’s persistent crashing errors on PC are mostly due to internal issues, you can try ruling out some common client-side causes to potentially fix them on your side.
Try windowed mode
A lot of players were able to fix the crashing issues in Black Ops 7 by switching to windowed mode from full-screen. Open in-game settings and then hit the Display tab. Here, change Display Mode to Windowed.
Update drivers, system software, and Black Ops 7
Check if there’s any pending update for graphics drivers or Windows. If yes, complete them and then check if the crashing issues persist in Black Ops 7. At the same time, check for any available updates to the game. Activision is expected to keep releasing hotfixes to fix any heavily reported problem.
If you own an NVIDIA GPU, use the NVIDIA app to keep track of any new graphics update. For AMD users, there’s the Radeon software.
Try disabling anti-virus programs
Disable Windows Defender or any third-party anti-virus program and check if things are working fine. If yes, make sure Black Ops 7 beta is added to the anti-virus’ list of exceptions.
Disable other anti-cheat programs
If you play games like VALORANT or Fortnite, disable their anti-cheat programs—Vanguard and Easy Anti Cheat—before launching Black Ops 7. Check if this solves the problem.
Check if your PC meets the minimum requirements
If you have a low-end machine, make sure it’s eligible to run Black Ops 7 beta. You may face performance issues, including crashes, if your PC barely meets the system requirements. In this case, you may find it worthwhile to wait for the global launch since the developer will likely add better performance optimization by then.
Also, make sure your in-game graphics settings are chosen according to what your device can handle. Try capping frame rates and switching to a lower graphics preset.
Reinstall Black Ops 7 beta
If nothing works, it could be worth reinstalling the beta client. Clean installation may fix a hidden issue in the game files that could be causing the crashes. If reinstallation seems like a lot of work, you can try to verify game files instead.
