The first Call of Duty event of the year for Gfinity has kicked off with 16 of the best European teams converging on London to battle for $25,000 and CWL Pro Points. Despite drawing groups for the event on Tuesday, Supremacy and Team Prismatic were unable to attend the event. This prompted Team IN2ITION and Epsilon eSports to replace them in Group B. The numbers in the parentheses represent the seed within the group each team has. Each higher seed won their respective games, outside of Epsilon taking down Team IN2ITION. The replacements didn’t slow down the action as eight matches of 24 total in group play were decided:
GROUP A
- (1) Splyce 3-0 Bando (4)
- (2) Aware Gaming 3-1 FAB Games eSports (3)
GROUP B
- (2) The Imperial 3-0 Team IN2ITION (3)
- (3) Team IN2ITION 0-3 Epsilon eSports (4)
GROUP C
- (1) Orbit 3-0 Millenium (4)
- (2) Team 3G 3-0 Cyclone (3)
GROUP D
- (1) Team Infused 3-0 Hadouken (4)
- (2) FNATIC 3-0 Black Forest Games (3)
As you can see, the matches were mostly one sided as the higher seeded teams destroyed seemingly everything in their paths in day one. The standings of each group through the first day of play are:
GROUP A
- Splyce (1-0)
- Aware Gaming (1-0)
- FAB Games eSports (0-1)
- Bando (0-1)
GROUP B
- The Imperial (1-0)
- Epsilon Esports (1-0)
- Team Elevate (0-0)
- Team IN2ITION (0-2)
GROUP C
- Orbit (1-0)
- Team 3G (1-0)
- Cyclone (0-1)
- Millenium (0-1)
GROUP D
- Team Infused (1-0)
- FNATIC (1-0)
- Black Forest Games (0-1)
- Hadouken (0-1)
