Best controller settings in Black Ops 7

Ideal controller settings.

The ideal movement system and shooting mechanics in Black Ops 7 require a controller setup that strikes a balance between precision, speed, and comfort. If you’re looking for the best controller settings for BO7, you’ve come to the right place.

Recommended Videos

For competitive Call of Duty players, the right controller settings make a tangible difference as aim tracking becomes sharper, movement feels more natural, and this further improves reaction speed. With omnimovement and new features like wall jumping introduced this year, the meta has shifted, and default settings often don’t cut it for accuracy or agility.

So, whether you want to grind ranked or simply dominate public matches, here are the best controller settings you should use in Black Ops 7.

Inputs

  • Edit Button Layout: Tactical
  • Stick Layout Preset: Default
  • Horizontal Stick Sensitivity: 1.65
  • Vertical Stick Sensitivity: 1.65
  • Simplified Controls Preset: Off
  • Low Motor Strain Preset: Off
  • Bumper Ping: Off
  • Swap L1/R1 with L2/R2: Off

For most players, setting the button layout to Tactical does the job. This swaps crouch or slide to the right stick, letting you maneuver quickly without lifting your thumb from aiming. If your controller allows remapping or you use paddles, the default layout also works well.

Stick Layout should be set to Default, unless you have a specific preference or are using unique controller features. For Horizontal or Vertical Sensitivity, start with values between 1.50 and 1.65. You can head to the firing range and fine-tune for your preferred responsiveness. Many competitive players find 1.60 to be the sweet spot for balancing flicks and tracking.

Controller

  • Controller Vibration: Off
  • Deadzone Inputs
    • Test Stick Deadzone: Off
    • Left Stick Min: 3
    • Left Stick Max: 99
    • Right Stick Min: 3
    • Right Stick Max: 99
    • L2 Button Deadzone: 7
    • R2 Button Deadzone: 7

For Deadzone Inputs, it’s ideal to keep the values between zero and three for the left stick. It should be lower for brand new controllers, but raise it slightly if you’ve started to experience drift.

For the right sticks, the ideal range is between three and five. Similar to LS, only increase if you notice unwanted movement. For Stick Max, 98 to 99 is perfect as it keeps input fully responsive near the endpoint.

Best Black Ops 7 aiming settings

Moving on to the aiming settings, here are the values you should use for your controller:

  • Look Inversion (On Foot): Standard
  • ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing: Gradual
  • 3rd Person ADS Correction Type: Assist
  • Aim Response Curve: Dynamic
  • Aim Response Curve Slope Scale: 1.00
  • Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom: On
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (Low Zoom): 0.70
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (2x-3x): 0.70
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (4x-5x): 0.70
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (6x-7x): 1.10
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (8x-9x): 1.10
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (High Zoom): 1.10
  • Target Aim Assist: On
  • Motion Sensor Function Behavior: Off

Keep ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing to Gradual for natural movement between hipfire and ADS, as it will reduce jarring shifts in camera speed when you aim. For the Aim Response Curve, try Dynamic first.

Yes, Standard and Linear are alternatives, but Dynamic feels smoother and helps aim better. Target Aim Assist should be on, as controller players need to maintain tracking in close quarters.

Intelligent Movement

  • Sprint Assist: Off
  • Mantle Assist: Off
  • Crouch Assist: Off
  • Corner Slice: Off
  • Wall Jump Assist: Sideways Only
  • Combat Roll Assist: Off

Keep Sprint, Mantle, and Crouch Assists off, unless you prefer more automatic parkour-style movement. Set Wall Jump Assist to Sideways only if you’re still mastering the technique. For advanced players, it’s best if you keep it off.

Movement Behaviors

  • Slide/Dive Behavior: Tap to Slide
    • Slide/Dive Action Delay: Short
  • Automatic Airborne Mantle: On
  • Sprint Restore: On
  • Slide Maintains Sprint: On
  • Wingsuit Activation: Manual
  • Wall Jump Activation: Press
  • Slide/Active Roll Behavior: Tap to Slide
  • Active Roll Camera: 3rd Person

Combat Behaviors

  • Aim Down Sight Behavior: Hold
  • Weapon Mount Activation: ADS + Melee
  • Dedicated Melee Weapon Activation: Hold Melee
  • Body Shield/Finishing Move Behavior: Prioritize Finishing Move
  • Armor Plate Behavior: Apply All
  • C4 Detonation Activation: All at Once
  • Equipment Behavior: Hold
  • Manual Fire Behavior: Press
  • Combat Advanced Settings:
    • Change Dpad Up Behavior: Ping
    • Change Zoom Activation: Sprint/Tactical Sprint/Focus
    • Weapon Mount Exit: Short Delay
    • Interact/Reload Behavior: Tap to Reload
    • Mantle Cancels Reload: On
    • Sprint Cancels Reload: Off
    • Akimbo Behavior: Independent
    • ADS Stick Swap: Off
    • Depleted Ammo Weapon Switch: On
    • Weapon Mount Movement: On

So, that’s pretty much it. Utilize these settings to gain a significant competitive advantage over others. The settings are adjusted in such a way that you can easily use them in Warzone as well. I suggest staying adaptive.

Although my recommendations do offer a strong starting point, every player has their own feel. So, making tweaks to fit your playstyle will yield the best results.
