ACHES vs. Reedy rematch headlines groups for 2017 CWL Paris Open

ESWC has picked the groups for their Paris event, and they all have great storylines.

Just three days ago, eUnited hoisted the trophy in the Georgia World Congress Center as they were crowned the 2017 CWL Atlanta Open champions. Now, teams have begun traveling across the pond to Europe for another event this weekend: the 2017 CWL Paris Open.

From Feb. 17-19, some of the best Call of Duty teams in the world will compete for their share of a $100,000 prize pool and highly-coveted pro points, with first place earning $40,000 and 10,000 pro points per player.

Earlier this morning, ESWC announced the groups for this weekend’s competition. There will be four groups, each consisting of four teams. Although there are over 20 teams from North America attending, only four teams were given a spot in pool play, while Europe has eight spots. Three teams were randomly chosen for each group, as the final spot will be given to one of the top-four teams from the open bracket, which is set to be the most competitive open bracket to date.

Without further ado, here are the groups for the 2017 CWL Paris Open:

Group A:

  • Orbit
  • OpTic Gaming
  • Team 3G

Group B:

  • Rise Nation

Group C:

  • Splyce
  • FaZe Clan
  • XtroVert Esports EU

Group D:

Immediately, one can see that there are some great matchups in each group. Orbit vs. OpTic will be a great matchup in Group A, while Team 3G also had a good showing in Atlanta. Rise Nation vs. Infused will be the match to watch in Group B, and Splyce vs. FaZe is sure to be an excellent series. Finally, Patrick “ACHES” Price will look to get his revenge against Jordan “Reedy” Reed when Cloud9 faces off against Elevate in Group D.

But, with so many high-profile teams in the open bracket, including Atlanta champions eUnited, Paris is set to feature some of the toughest groups in Call of Duty history.

EDIT (12:00 p.m. EST): The open bracket for the 2017 CWL Paris Open has been revealed, and can be found here.
