Call of Duty World League: Stage 2 Week 9 Power Rankings

GAMURS's Week 9 edition of the power rankings for the second season of the North American Call of Duty World League.
Weekend Editor

Even though MLG Anaheim 2016 just came to a close this weekend, another week of action in the Call of Duty World League for Call of Duty®: Black Ops III took place prior to this event, which means that it is time for an updated edition of GAMURS’s power rankings for the North American teams participating in this league.

Just as a reminder, the point system for these power rankings will be calculated based on the rankings submitted by any of the GAMURS staff members. These staff members were asked to rank the 12 teams in order from best to worst, with No. 1 being the best and No. 12 being the worst. Points will be rewarded to mirror a team’s ranking; for example, the first place team will receive 12 points, while the twelfth place team will receive one point.

After every week of action, we will be releasing another power rankings article where the teams will either move up or down based on how they perform in their matches, so don’t forget to check back here each week for the latest power rankings.

Without further ado, here are your power rankings for this week.

NA Power Rankings - Week 9 (Season 2)

1. OpTic Gaming (84 total points; 7 first place votes)

OpTic Gaming remains in the number one spot of our power rankings once again fresh off their championship run at MLG Anaheim. However, OpTic went 1-1 in Week 8 as they defeated H2k-Gaming 3-1 before losing 3-1 to Team EnVyUs. Now with a record of 10-3 in Stage Two, OpTic will try to continue to prove their dominance when they face off against Team eLevate and compLexity Gaming in Week 9.

2. Rise Nation (74 total points)

A 1-1 performance in Week 8 and a third place finish at MLG Anaheim is good enough to keep Rise Nation in the second spot of our power rankings. Rise was able to defeat Cloud9 3-1, but then suffered a shocking 3-1 loss to Team SoloMid, bringing their Stage Two record to 9-5. In Week 9, Rise will have their work cut out for them when they take on Luminosity Gaming and FaZe Clan.

3. Team eLevate (66 total points)

Team eLevate has moved up three spots in our power rankings due to their 2-0 showing in Week 8, as well as their second place finish at MLG Anaheim. 3-1 wins over H2k and coL helped bring eLv’s record to 8-5 on the season, and they will look to stay hot when they play against OpTic and TSM in Week 9.

4. Team EnVyUs (63 total points)

  • Jordan “JKap” Kaplan
  • Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat
  • Johnathan “John” Perez

EnVyUs brought their record up to 9-4 in Stage Two by taking down TSM 3-0 and defeating OpTic 3-1. In Week 9, EnVyUs will try to separate themselves from the top of the pack when they go up against Luminosity and Cloud9.

5. FaZe Clan (62 total points)

FaZe Clan has dropped down one spot in our power rankings following their fourth place finish at MLG Anaheim and a 1-1 showing in Week 8. FaZe was able to defeat coL 3-1, but then lost 3-1 to Dream Team. Now with a record of 9-5, FaZe will try to keep improving when they face off against Hundred Thieves and Rise Nation in Week 9.

6. Luminosity Gaming (44 total points)

Making the largest leap in our power rankings is Luminosity Gaming, who have moved up four spots after going 2-0 in Week 8 and finishing top-six at MLG Anaheim. Luminosity has been playing extremely well since their recent roster change, as they were able to defeat Hundred Thieves 3-1 and Dream Team 3-2 to bring their Stage Two record up to 6-7. In Week 9, Luminosity will look to gain momentum off their recent success when they take on Rise and EnVyUs.

7. Dream Team (42 total points)

Dream Team has dropped down two spots in our power rankings after going 1-1 in Week 8 and finishing top-12 at MLG Anaheim. dT began Week 8 with an impressive 3-1 win over FaZe, but then they fell 3-2 to Luminosity. Now with a record of 7-6, dT will try to get back on track when they play against coL and Hundred Thieves in Week 9.

8. Cloud9 (37 total points)

Following a 1-1 showing in Week 8 and a top-eight finish at MLG Anaheim, Cloud9 remains in the eighth spot of our power rankings. C9 was able to defeat Hundred Thieves 3-1 before losing 3-1 to Rise. In Week 9, C9 will put their 7-7 record to the test when they go up against H2k and EnVyUs.

9. H2k-Gaming (31 total points)

H2k-Gaming has gone down two spots in our power rankings due to their 0-2 performance in Week 8, as well as their top-16 finish at MLG Anaheim. After a great start to Stage Two, H2k continues to struggle in the second half of the season, losing 3-1 to both eLv and OpTic. Now with a record of 6-8, H2k will try to get back to their winning ways when they face off against C9 and TSM in Week 9.

10. compLexity Gaming (22 total points)

Falling down one spot in our power rankings is compLexity Gaming, who finished top-12 at MLG Anaheim and went 0-2 in Week 8. coL lost 3-1 to both FaZe and eLv, bringing their record to 4-9. In Week 9, things will not get much easier for coL when they take on dT and OpTic.

11. Team SoloMid (12 total points)

Team SoloMid was able to move up one spot in our power rankings after a 1-1 showing in Week 8, but a top-20 finish at MLG Anaheim. TSM began Week 8 with a 3-0 loss to EnVyUs, but they bounced back with a huge 3-1 upset win over Rise. With their Stage Two record sitting at 3-10, TSM will try to claw their way back to the .500 mark when they play against eLv and H2k in Week 9.

12. Hundred Thieves (9 total points)

  • Matthew "Royalty" Faithfull
  • Patrick “ACHES” Price

Hundred Thieves saw their record fall to 2-11 after losing 3-1 to both C9 and Luminosity. In Week 9, Hundred Thieves will look to make some major adjustments when they go up against FaZe and dT.
