How to suppress enemies with LMGs in Battlefield 6

Nail that challenge.

Learning how to suppress enemies with LMGs in Battlefield 6 is crucial for completing certain challenges and taking full advantage of one of the shooter title’s core combat mechanics.

One notable example is the Bullet Storm challenge, which requires you to suppress 300 enemies using LMGs. Fulfilling this task, alongside dealing 10,000 hip-fire damage with LMGs, unlocks one of Battlefield 6’s most formidable weapons, the KTS100 MK8.

Here’s everything you need to know about how suppression works, and how to use it effectively with LMGs in BF6.

How suppression works in Battlefield 6

In BF6, suppression has been completely reworked from previous iterations. Instead of blurring your vision or reducing your weapon stability and accuracy, suppression now temporarily prevents you from regenerating health for several seconds after being affected by enemy fire, even if you’ve taken cover.

This new mechanic changes how you might want to approach gunfights, especially if you main the Support role like me. By laying down suppressive fire, you can help your Assault teammates push through the frontline and finish off damaged enemies more quickly.

On the flip side, Supply Bags from the Support class can counter the suppression effect, instantly restoring health regeneration for both your teammates and yourself. So, a smart strategy to do is to deploy Supply Bags along common routes or near cover positions, allowing allies to recover quickly and stay in the fight longer.

To trigger the suppression effect, simply fire bullets within about five meters of your target, even if they’re behind cover. When done successfully, you’ll see the “Enemy Suppression” indicator appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen. On the other hand, you’ll know you’re being suppressed when you notice faint, white visual effects looking like bullet tracers passing near you, typically just to the left of your crosshair. This means enemy rounds are close enough to disrupt your health regeneration.

Of course, if you need to suppress enemies with LMGs to complete a specific challenge, make sure to equip a gun under the said category. LMGs are ideal for suppression thanks to their large magazine sizes (except for the DRS-IAR, which only has 30 bullets per round by default) and sustained fire capabilities. The key here is to maintain constant pressure near enemy positions, even without a direct line of sight. Bullets hitting nearby walls, ground, or cover will still count toward suppression if they pass close enough to your target.

For players completing suppression-related challenges, I highly recommend hopping on All-Out Warfare modes like Breakthrough, Conquest, and Escalation. These modes are perfect because they feature open spaces and clustered enemies, giving you lots of opportunities to provide suppressive fire from a safe position.

To maximize your effectiveness, equip a 1.75x to 3x scope for medium to long-range gunfights, along with attachments that boost recoil control and firing stability (like the 6H64 Vertical underbarrel and 465mm LB barrel) to ensure you’re shooting within the suppression range of your target. Using the Standard FMJ rounds can also help, as they can penetrate light cover, increasing your chances of suppressing enemies.

The L110, the default LMG in Battlefield 6, is definitely an excellent choice for completing those suppression-related challenges. If you want to maximize its potential, make sure to check out our best L110 loadout guide for the most effective setup.
