What exactly does Red Bull put in its energy drinks? ENCE’s newest sponsor hasn’t given the Finnish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team wings, but evidently, it has given them a lot of confidence. Aleksi “allu” Jalli, in particular, has most likely been taking advantage of all the free Red Bulls lying around the office.
In a documentary following the everyday life and journey of ENCE’s CS:GO team, AWPer allu said in a discussion with ex-pro and analyst Joona “natu” Leppänen that his former team, Ninjas in Pyjamas, are “fucking shit individual players.” Natu responded with, “on our own, we’re better than them,” and Allu casually agreed. “Yes, we are,” Allu said. “We’re better than Astralis, too.”
As cocky as the Finnish sniper sounded, the documentary is translated from the Finnish language, and its context is minimal. Allu could have been sarcastic, or more than likely, just expressing his confidence in his team.
The ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas player, who received criticism when he played for the fan-favorite Swedish lineup in 2015, wasn’t necessarily trash talking his former teammates. He didn’t explicitly say that his current team ENCE would beat NiP in a matchup, nor did he say that they could beat Astralis—the kings of Counter-Strike in 2018. He was just articulating his assurance in his team’s individual skill.
ENCE qualified for the IEM Katowice Major yesterday at the CIS Minor by defeating Team Spirit and Winstrike in the playoffs of the upper bracket before finishing their run in the EU Minor by beating Valiance and North in convincing fashion.
The IEM Katowice Major’s new Challengers Stage will begin on Feb. 13, in preparation for the Legends Stage on Feb. 20. Allu will have the opportunity to play against NiP in the Challengers Stage, where his confidence will be put to the test.
