In Dallas Fuel and Houston Outlaws’ Widowmaker vs. Widowmaker battle, we all win.

Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin took to the French sniper for the Outlaws, while sniper extraordinaire Timo “Taimou” Kettunen grabbed the reins for the Fuel. Widowmaker has seen an increase in usage in Overwatch’s meta in the Overwatch League’s preseason exhibition matches.

The one-shot potential on hard-to-hit heroes makes Widowmaker important for getting quick kills. Likewise, the fear of a skilled Widowmaker can often act as a zoning tool, pushing an enemy team into hiding.

We saw both Taimou and LiNkzr’s Widowmakers come out over the first two maps of the series, Dorado and Temple of Anubis. Taimou, as always, impressed us with his Widowmaker, but LiNkzr won the battle in today’s Overwatch League matches—he has good aim.

Both players switched off of Widowmaker in favor of more suitable heroes for the third and fourth matches, where the Fuel captured Oasis and the Outlaws took Eichenwalde.

Lijiang Tower came next, once again the fifth map tiebreaker. Taimou opted for Roadhog instead of Widowmaker, but he might as well have been on a sniping hero. Taimou consistently plucked Outlaws out of the sky with surgical precision. But despite Jake Lyons’ Pharah shooting Mountain Dew rockets straight from the sky to keep the Fuel at bay, the Fuel came out on top 3-2 in the Overwatch League’s Texas preseason showdown. It was sloppy, but the Boys in Blue got it done.
