2016 League of Legends World Championship Locations Announced

Developer Riot Games is bringing the world’s largest eSports competition to the shores of the United States. The 2016 League of Legends World Championship will be taking place at popular venues across the country from Sept. 29 – Oct. 29.

This is the first time that the entire World Championship tour will be hosted in North America, a region that is still developing to become prominent in League of Legends. The world’s best will be competing on a tour throughout a 31-day period in the U.S. 

The 2016 World Championship will kick-off with the Group Stage being held in San Francisco. The quarterfinals will be held in Chicago, with the semifinals following in New York City. The 2016 League of Legends World Championship will conclude in Los Angeles, with the grand finals being hosted at the famous multi-purpose sports arena, Staples Center, for the second time.

Fans nationwide will be able to support their teams’ expedition to claim this year’s Summoner’s Cup title and first-place prize. The World Championship will be stopping at destinations such as the Madison Square Garden and other well-known arenas.

Here are the locations and dates for the U.S. tour:

  • Group Stage: Sept. 29-Oct. 2 and Oct. 6-9 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA
  • Quarterfinals: Oct. 13-16 at The Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL
  • Semifinals: Oct. 21-22 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY
  • Finals: Oct. 29 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA

LoL Esports will be releasing more information on the tournament’s format, prize pool and tickets later this summer. It definitely will be a spectacle to see the world’s most popular video game and eSports event hit North American venues this fall.
