Starting tomorrow, four of the most popular Hearthstone streamers will be given brand-new accounts and then be pitted against each other in a race to see who can get the highest on ladder. The event is a promotion for ASUS, and is being hosted at the ESL studios in Cologne, Germany.

The participating players are Sebastian “Forsen” Fors, Tempo Storm founder Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk, Janne “Savjz” Mikkonen, and Nihilum owner Thomas “Kungen” Amedeo.

A team of top casters will provide analysis over the 24 hours, headed up by Dan “Frodan” Chou. The players will also stream the climb from their own perspectives.

Though the challenge is hard enough by itself, additional rules will serve to put even more obstacles in the way. Only the Mage class will have all of the basic cards unlocked, and each player will have three classes banned by their opponents. They will also have access to the Curse of Naxxramas and Blackrock Mountain expansions, but will have to weigh up whether or not the time lost on playing through them is worthwhile.

The players will also receive packs throughout the event to boost their deck options, and will be able to dust and craft these cards as they please.

Some pro players we spoke to reckon that the competitors will max out at around rank five before hitting a wall, mostly due to the card restrictions. When others have done similar challenges, such as Jeffrey “Trump” Shih’s popular free-to-play legend runs, it’s taken considerably more than 24 hours.
