Today marked the announcement of Evil Geniuses’ new Dota 2 lineup, which fans had been eagerly awaiting. The organization retained three of the members from the team that placed top-three at The International 2016 in Ludwig “<a href="https://twitter.com/zai2002″ target=”blank”>zai” Wåhlberg, Syed Sumail “<a href="https://twitter.com/SumaaaaiL" target="blank”>SumaiL” Hassan and Saahil “<a href="https://twitter.com/UniverseDota" target="blank”>UNiVeRsE” Arora. Clinton “<a href="https://twitter.com/FearDotA" target="blank”>Fear” Loomis already <a href="/articles/fear-retires-from-eg-dota-2-roster" target="blank”>announced his departure from the team as a player and will serve as the team’s coach going forward. Peter “<a href="https://twitter.com/Peterpandam" target="blank”>ppd” Dager will be retiring from the professional scene. Here is a quote regarding ppd from the news release: “After being presented with the decision of either pursuing a long-term career in esports or continuing on as an active pro player, one with an unforeseeable duration, he ultimately decided it best to transition into the business management role offered to him by Twitch. The details of this new position and what it means for the brand will be announced in the weeks ahead.”
New to the roster is a familiar face for EG fans in Artour “<a href="https://twitter.com/Arteezy" target="blank”>Arteezy” Babaev, who has played under EG previously, as well as Andreas “<a href="https://twitter.com/Cr1tdota" target="blank”>Cr1t” Nielsen. Cr1t will be taking over as the captain for this team, hoping to lead them to be the championship team everyone expects them to be. This squad does not lack in star power, so fans are eagerly awaiting their first matches.
