How to start The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2

Begin your journey into the darkness, and find out what happened on N'Erud.

The Dark Horizon is the third premium DLC from Gunfire Games for Remnant 2 players. It takes you on a journey through another section of N’Erud, where you’ll learn about what happened when a large entity took over a small section, and you’ll have to remove that control.

There’s a specific way to do that for anyone who wants to jump into the DLC immediately when they can access it. If you’ve already been through this process for the other DLC packs, namely The Forgotten City or The Awakened King, you likely have a good idea of what to expect and what you can do. Here’s what you need to know about starting The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2 and what to expect for your first and future playthroughs.

Where to launch The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2

You need to purchase The Dark Horizon DLC for Remnant 2 before you can do anything else. You can do this from your platform’s marketplace. However, if you already have the DLC Bundle or the Ultimate Edition of Remnant 2, it is available to you, and you can start it anytime. If you’re missing these critical components, pick them up or buy the DLC pack separately.

After confirming your purchase or accessing the DLC, you’ll need to make your way to the World Crystal at the center of Ward 13 and interact with it. From there, make your way to the World Settings section. You want to select the option to reroll your Adventure Mode campaign and select The Dark Horizon at the far left. Here, you can complete a straightforward adventure on your Remnant 2 character entirely structured to working through The Dark Horizon campaign. If you’re working on any preexisting Adventure Mode campaign, I recommend completing it before you reroll, as it removes this location from your menu.

After launching The Dark Horizon adventure, you can work through it with your Remnant 2 character, bringing other friends. They need the DLC if they want to join you, though. Whether you complete The Dark Horizon by yourself or with friends, the first time you work through it will be the same. The first Adventure Mode run of any DLC should be the same for every Remnant 2 until they reach the end, complete it, and reroll it. Now, other dungeons and loot from the different sections should appear.

If you complete it the first time, The Dark Horizon can also appear in a campaign as a section of N’Erud in Remnant 2. You must complete it at least once in the Adventure Mode to get it in other parts of your game. If you’d instead focus entirely on the new stuff from The Dark Horizon DLC and get as many notable rewards as possible, rerolling and running it continuously is the best idea. You can do this from the Adventure Mode settings as often as possible rather than running a full campaign in Remnant 2.

The Dark Horizon DLC is how you’ll be able to unlock the third unique Archetype for Remnant 2, The Warden. It should appear in every rerolled version of the adventure, so if you missed it during the one-shot, it will appear in future ones. Thankfully, it’s not as difficult to track down as some other Archetypes in Remnant 2, but it can be a challenge if you miss it.

Here’s a full breakdown of what you can expect from The Dark Horizon before you launch it for the first time.

  • Launching The Dark Horizon from the Ward 13 World Crystal menu in Adventure Mode
  • The first The Dark Horizon campaign one-shot is always the same
  • Rerolled worlds of The Dark Horizon are different, adding dungeons from N’Erud
  • The Dark Horizon can appear in your campaign as a possible path for N’Erud
  • Reroll The Dark Horizon Adventure Mode to acquire all exclusive unlocks

If you find the difficulty too much in The Dark Horizon, as you want to focus on working through every unlock, adjust the setting before you launch it in Adventure Mode in Remnant 2. Regardless of the difficulty, you can earn all the exclusive, unlockable content from this DLC.
