Knowing what moves to teach Primarina and how they work is critical. You can give Primarina the strongest attacks in Pokémon Go, but you need to understand why they work with this Pokémon and how to use them alongside a team. You also want to ensure you’re participating in the correct league with Primarina, as it won’t be good in every Battle League category. Here’s what you need to know about the best moveset for Primarina in Pokémon Go.

Primarina is a unique Pokémon, a Water and Fairy-type, making it exceptionally useful to battle against Dragon-type Pokémon. You want to lean into that with its moveset, and the best attacks to teach it is the fast move Charm and the charged moves Disarming Voice and Hydro Cannon in Pokémon Go.

There are not too many options for Primarina’s fast move. The other choice apart from Charm is Waterfall, which is a great Water-type attack. Waterfall does 12 damage and generates 2.6 energy, but it takes three turns to use it. On the other hand, Charm is a Fairy-type attack that does 15 damage and provides two energy. Charm also takes three turns, making it a slower fast move. However, the overall damage boost from Charm makes it a better option than Waterfall, especially because Charm is super effective against Dark, Dragon, and Fighting-type Pokémon.

For Primarina’s charged move, there are several more options to choose from. These are all of the charged moves Primarina can learn in Pokémon Go.

  • Disarming Voice (Fairy-type)
  • Hydro Cannon (Water-type)
  • Hydro Pump (Water-type)
  • Moonblast (Fairy-type)
  • Psychic (Psychic-type)
  • Sparkling Aria (Water-type)

Of these choices, Disarming Voice and Hydro Cannon are your best options. Disarming Voice is a Fairy-type move that does 70 damage for 45 energy. Primarina can quickly charge it up, potentially using it to bait an opponent’s shields in a Battle League match or deal decent damage, especially if the Pokémon is a Dark, Dragon, or Fighting-type. Hydro Cannon is an equally dangerous Water-type move that does 80 damage for 40 energy. It’s an upgrade to Disarming Voice in raw numbers, and perfect against Fire, Ground, and Rock-types in Pokémon Go.

Although Disarming Voice and Hydro Cannon are the best, there’s always the option to swap them out for any of the other choices. I recommend keeping Hydro Cannon, though, as it costs less energy and deals more damage. Moonblast could be a good swap for Disarming Voice, but it takes forever to charge, as it deals 110 damage for 60 energy, and has a 10 percent chance to lower the opponent’s attack by one rank. You could also swap it out for Psychic, which does 75 damage for 55 energy, with a 10 percent chance to lower the opponent’s defense by one rank.

Overall, Disarming Voice and Hydro Cannon will always be your best charged moves for Primarina in Pokémon Go. Hydro Pump costs too much energy, and Sparkling Aria is essentially the same as Hydro Cannon but costs five more energy, making it a waste.

Is Primarina good in Pokémon Go?

When it comes down to it, yes, Primarina is a powerful Pokémon in Pokémon Go, and it’s one you want to take with you to the Master League. It’s a fantastic choice if you want to fight against specific Dragon-types, such as Palkia, Zygarde, Dialga, Zekrom, Zacian, and several other regular Master League Pokémon. Because you won’t have to limit its combat power to participate in the Master League, expect to use it regularly in five-star raids and against Team Rocket.
