This Baldur’s Gate 3 player missed Gale so much they made their own mini Gale

Mom: "We have Gale at home."

Ever get so lonely without your favorite companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 that you create a tiny cute version of them as a replacement? Well, this player did just that.

A player named Sludgeycore shared an image of their Hireling in Baldur’s Gate 3 on Oct. 23, and it’s the spitting image of Gale. They claimed Gale left their party so they “adapted.”

The Hireling they created looks just like Gale, except for the fact he’s a Gnome. His hair, beard, and face look very familiar to the wizard companion.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, players can hire Hierlings by using Withers, a camp follower you meet pretty early in the game. With 10 different and well-written companions, players rarely choose this option. I personally never sought Withers’ help, unless I needed to revive one of my companions. But in the case of Sludgeycore, there was no other choice.

Players on Reddit quickly came up with hilarious yet accurate nicknames for the Hireling. “Budget Gale,” “Smol Gale,” and “Lil Breezy” are the names that cracked me up the most.

I can’t get my head around liking a character so much yet having them leave your party. I’m guessing the player opted for a Dark Urge playthrough or something along those lines. Or maybe they just wanted their own version of Gale but without all the baggage that comes with him.

Either way, we must applaud the idea of making your own Gale. You originally couldn’t customize the Hirelings Withers gave you, but with the recent updates to the Magic Mirror, the option is now available.

While this mini Gale may not be as annoying or charismatic (it depends on how you look at it) as the real Gale, we sure hope he’s powerful enough on the battlefield. Some of Gale’s spells are immensely strong, especially in the second and third acts.
